Welsh League Division Three: Llantwit Vardre 1 Newcastle Emlyn 5

Newcastle Emlyn helped player/manager Matthew Price celebrate his 30th birthday in style with five goals at Llantwit Vardre, three of them coming from striker Mike Preddy.

Price played a big part in the win as his side led by 3-0 at the break.

Emlyn have leaked early goals in recent matches but on this occasion they played it tight at the back and made a positive start themselves as a neat one-two involving Simon Gilderdale and Mike Preddy saw the former put Price through and he coolly planted his left-foot shot home. Although Gary Evans' cracking header from a corner was saved, Anthony Roberts was also up from his right-back berth to ram the rebound into the net.

Price again broke through and Preddy had the simplest of tap-ins to open his account. Llantwit finally broke through to score midway through the second period.

At the other end, Price used his speed off the mark and created a chance which Preddy fired over the bar but the young striker soon made amends after Dean Marks had created space for Price from a throw-in and the manager's cross gave Preddy his second score.

The visitors were able to claim a fifth goal late with Preddy's third goal.
