Countless friends in the Cardigan area were saddened by the death, which occurred peacefully at Glangwili Hospital on Friday, of Gruffydd Williams, 26 Maeshenffordd, Cardigan, aged 78.
Popularly and affectionately known as `Gippie' he was a larger than life character, a familiar figure in the town where he spent most of his life, and liked nothing better than socialising with a whole host of friends.
Up until his retirement he was for many years a workman with Ceredigion County Council, much of that time spent as a gravedigger at the local cemetery.
The funeral is being held today (Wednesday) with a public funeral at Carmarthen Town cemetery at 10.30am.
