Teifisiders' victory over Gwent side
Newcastle Emlyn v Albion Rovers
Although mathematically still in danger of relegation, three points from their remaining two remaining games - both against Treowen - would ensure safety for the Reds.
And if the performance against Rovers is any guide there is every reason to suggest that the Teifisiders can do the business at Parc Emlyn this Saturday.
It was essentially an all-round team effort that brought victory over the Gwent side, but special mention should be made of Tom Stephens, who took over from unavailable skipper Steve 'Gerry' Williams in midfield and turned in a five-star performance, as did veteran sweeper Richard 'Beulah' Davies.
After a goalless opening 45 minutes Paul Davies scrambled the ball home to put the Reds in front, a Simon Davies deflected effort increased the lead, and top marksman Gary Davies wrapped up the points when seizing on a Gethin 'Nant' Davies through ball and chipping the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area. The visitors were reduced to ten men in the final quarter when one of their players was given his marching orders after being yellow-carded a second time.
