Moves are presently afoot to retain a training presence at QinetiQ Aberporth.
This was yesterday (Tuesday) confirmed by QinetiQís Farnborough press office and the head of training with QinetiQ at Aberporth. Robin Finlayson, said: ìThere are a number of options that ELWa (Education and Learning Wales) and QinetiQ are presently considering.î
From the QinetiQ press office in Farnborough, a spokeswoman told the Tivy-Side: ìThe possibility of retaining a training arm in some shape or form at Aberporth is currently being explored, but talks in this respect are still in their infancy.î
She added that there will be no going back on the decision to discontinue apprenticeship training at Aberporth where nearly 40 apprentices are presently undergoing training.
They are scheduled to complete their courses in 2004 and it was announced in March that apprentice training there is to cease in two years time.
