Preselimen on top form

From the Tivyside Advertiser, first published Tuesday 26th Feb 2002.

An inauspicious start to their division 7 West campaign is likely to cost Crymych promotion, but the north Pembrokeshire men are currently in a rich vein of form after five wins on the trot.

Third placed Pontardawe were the latest to suffer at the hands of the Preselimen, who ran out emphatic 34-13 winners.

A big test for Paul Jenkins and company comes a week on Saturday when they visit promotion contenders Llanelli Wanderers.

Cardigan slumped to a third successive defeat in division 3 West, going down 22-11 against promotion challengers Vardre at windswept King George V Field.

Forced to play second fiddle up front the Cardis were no match for their opponents in the scrummaging department, and were pushed all over the field.

* The division 4 West fixture between Skewen and Newcastle Emlyn fell victim to the weather.
