They may be as crazy as a busload of cats but Kald can certainly pull the punches.
Their new EP CD (released October 12) is another end-to-end triumph reeking of style, originality and an unadulterated measure of class.
`Poptastic', which includes the lead track `Don't Breathe a Word' is released on the Rasp Record Label, a subsidiary of Fflach, and combines an eclectic mix of techno bass, Ibiza chill-out, modern R&B and hip-hop with the occasional strain of rock thrown in for good measure.
Commenting on the production, Kald bassist Dave Aaronson said he was confident that `Poptastic' will please the punters and ensure the band remains one of the hottest little numbers on the Welsh music circuit. "We've been lucky," he said. "We've hit the right sound for now, the kind of music that the clubs and the DJs all want to play. We've also kept up the pressure by publicising ourselves and promoting our stuff as strongly as we can."
Throughout the summer Kald have been touring extensively with performances all over Wales and their debut appearance across the bridge at the Willow Festival in Peterborough, which is one of the largest free festivals in the country. They have also had considerable radio airplay with sessions and interviews on Radio Pembrokeshire, Radio Ceredigion, Valleys Radio, Radio Wales, Wave FM and S4C's Bandit show. Earlier this week they shot their first promo video for `Don't Breathe a Word' which will be shown on HTV's `Shotgun Slideshow' in December and earlier this summer they recorded a number for `Showcase' which will be shown on the Men and Motors channel in the near future.
The `Poptastic' launch party takes place at the Black Lion Hotel, Cardigan on Saturday October 12 (free entry).
