Wildlife Trust merger

From the Tivyside Advertiser, first published Tuesday 18th Dec 2001.

The West Wales Wildlife Trust is poised for a major expansion following news that it is to merge with its counterpart in Glamorgan.

Once the deal is struck, the new super-reserve will be the fourth largest in the UK.

Commenting on the announcement earlier this week Mike Snow, deputy manager of the West Wales Wildlife Trust, said the merger would have significant benefits for the Cilgerran-based headquarters.

ìOnce formed, the new Trust will incorporate a potential 60% of the Welsh population,î he said. ìThis will enable us to tap into the industrial and economic resources of south Wales and share the revenue across the remoter areas of rural Wales which donít currently have that kind of funding, such as Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.î
